Opens Apr 12 2022 12:01 AM (EDT)
Deadline May 15 2022 11:59 PM (EDT)
Description

Intake for the RTO4 – Tourism Relief Fund is now closed, and the review process has begun. We received 111 applications asking for a total of $8M and are oversubscribed. The applications are being reviewed by an external review panel and successful applicants can expect to be notified in June.

Made possible with support from the Government of Canada through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), Regional Tourism Organization 4 Inc. (RTO4) will be distributing $5 million in Tourism Relief Funding  in the area of Waterloo Region, Huron County, Perth County and Wellington County.

The program will enable ultimate recipients to strategically adapt projects and services to adjust to changing public health requirements, while planning for and investing in recovery efforts for future growth. It will also empower tourism entities to seize new market opportunities while helping the sector reposition itself for domestic and international visitors as the country safely reopens.

Additional objectives of the program includes:

- Supporting costs related to product development and enhancement of tourism experiences to help tourism businesses adapt to the 'new normal', modernize tourism offerings, and encourage the adoption of more environmentally sustainable practices.

- Supporting destination development that would position communities to take advantage of post-pandemic opportunities through strategic planning for medium to long-term investments, as well as supporting destination development in line with objectives set out in regional priorities and the Federal Tourism Growth Strategy.

RTO4 will provide non-repayable contributions between $20,000 and $100,000 for up to 50% of eligible costs for for-profit businesses and up to 100% of eligible costs for not-for-profit organizations and municipalities.

Please check the eligibility criteria prior to applying. We look forward to receiving your application.
